Imposing Governor’s Rule and an Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Facilitate Further Military Operations in the Tribal Areas at America’s Behest Will Push Conditions Further Towards Disaster. A ‘Hard State Approach’ Cannot Make Pakistan’s Muslims Bow Before American Rule

On 11 October, President Zardari signed the notification imposing governor’s rule and an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the advice of the federal government. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, governor’s rule and the emergency were imposed on the grounds of the provincial government’s “disassociation from the war against terrorism.” Since 2002, dozens of large and small military operations have been carried out in this unpopular American war, while the number of intelligence-based operations runs into the thousands. Military and civilian rulers have claimed dozens of times that they are achieving success in the war against militancy. However, neither are attacks by militants on security forces decreasing, nor is the intensity of military operations diminishing. The reality is that, following the “hard state approach” adopted by Trump’s “favorite Field Marshal,” Asim Munir, this extremely unpopular war has intensified further.

The Munir-Shehbaz government is the guardian of American hegemony in Pakistan and this region. America has assigned Pakistan’s rulers the responsibility of controlling the Afghan Taliban government through pressure and forcing Afghanistan to bow before the global order in accordance with the policy dictated by Washington. To implement this policy, Pakistan’s political and military leadership has adopted a hard-state policy towards the tribal areas. Its objectives include keeping the flames of war burning in the tribal areas, keeping the border closed to exert economic pressure on Afghanistan, bombing Afghanistan’s border regions, and expelling Afghan refugees from the country. To implement the directives issued by America, the Pakistani government is relying on the narrative of eliminating terrorism and militancy, whereas, in reality, the government’s actual objective is to prolong the war in the tribal areas and border regions so that pressure can be exerted on the Taliban government in Afghanistan. This policy of the Pakistani government was implemented after the American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Before that, Pakistan used to claim that it opposed the India-friendly government in Afghanistan and was at the forefront of efforts to establish a friendly government there in the form of the Afghan Taliban. In just a few years, at America’s command and under its dictates, Pakistan’s short-sighted rulers have declared a friendly government on Pakistan’s western border to be an enemy, even though Muslims who profess the Kalimah live on both sides of the border, and the land on both sides is Muslim land. The real price of the Pakistani rulers’ pro-American policy is being paid by our armed forces, the Muslims living in the border areas and their surroundings, our police, and our law enforcement agencies.

O Armed Forces of Pakistan!

Creating an atmosphere of war in the Pak-Afghan border regions and Muslims fighting one another are forbidden in Islam. The blood of a Muslim is sacred and unlawful for another Muslim to shed. Fighting among Muslims weakens the strength of Muslims and gives non-Muslim states the opportunity to establish their influence in Muslim lands. Allah (swt) said, [وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ]“And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute with one another, lest you lose heart and your strength depart,” [TMQ Surah Al-Anfal: 47]. Are we not directly witnessing how our strength is being weakened by fighting among ourselves?

Allah (swt) said, [وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا]“And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide forever, and Allah will be angry with him, curse him, and prepare for him a great punishment.” [TMQ Surah An-Nisa: 93]. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: «كُلُّ الْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَامٌ دَمُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَعِرْضُهُ» “For every Muslim, the blood, property, and honour of another Muslim are sacred and inviolable.” (Sahih Muslim).

The tribes, the armed forces, and the Ummah in general are all obliged to stop fighting among Muslims and remove those responsible for it from their positions. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, «انْصُرْ أَخَاكَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ مَظْلُومًا» “Help your Muslim brother, whether he is an oppressor or an oppressed person.” The Companions (ra) asked, “We understand helping the oppressed, but how do we help the oppressor?” The Prophet (saw) replied, «تَأْخُذُ فَوْقَ يَدَيْهِ» “Helping the oppressor means restraining him from committing oppression.” (Sahih Bukhari).

Like Pervez Musharraf, Kayani, Raheel Sharif, and Bajwa, the current rulers are following the path of servitude to America, and they need to be uprooted from the very foundations. American hegemony has been faltering throughout the world, and the entire world has witnessed the spectacle of America’s military defeat. Has the time not yet come to free ourselves from American colonialism?
