This week, after more than a decade the President of the Zionist state Isaac Herzog made a landmark visit to the Turkish capital Ankara, announcing a new era in bilateral relations. Erdogan described the visit as “historic” and a “turning point”, explaining that “our common goal is to revitalize political dialogue between our countries based on common interests and respect for mutual sensitivities”.

However, given the true nature of Turkey’s geopolitical interests, it comes as no surprise that yet again Erdogan is doing whatever it takes to bolster Turkey’s economic goals and his own position in the region. In Syria, Erdogan’s maneuvers did not only facilitate the broad US and Russian aims against the sincere revolution, but his policies blatantly enabled the Syrian regime’s recapturing of towns in northern Syria won by the Mujahideen. Likewise Turkeys’ cooperation with Russia in 2017 to set up observation posts in northern Idlib facilitated operations which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Muslims. As he did in Afrin in 2018, and via Turkey’s successive military operations Olive Branch and Peace Spring in 2019, which facilitated the creation of the largest and cruelest refugee crisis of our time.

Erdogan’s role in Egypt was no less insidious, as he blatantly chose to serve US and EU interests when meeting with representatives of different groups and political parties, as well as presidential candidates, in the transition period after the Mubarak regime, which was overthrown with the Arab Spring. Erdogan shamelessly recommended secularism for the new Egyptian Constitution and said, “I do not accept secularism as irreligious, I do not accept secularism as anti-religion. secularism is not anti-religion. In the AK Party’s definition of secularism; It says that a person cannot be secular, the state can be secular”. Erodogan also used the phrase “Don’t be afraid of secularism”.

There are many such examples of Erdogan’s slippery words and duplicitous game, such as in Libya where he openly backed the USA's aims and agent, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, whilst simultaneously buying a fleet of tanks from Russia and allowing their mercenaries ‘Wagner’ to enter a US controlled area. Now Erdogan has openly stated his ambition to be included in the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) with Israel, Cyprus, Greece, and Italy, which aims to take Black Sea gas via pipeline into Europe. This is of even more significance, now that Russia is being economically and politically ostracized by most western nations for its incursion into Ukraine, and Europe is looking to reduce its heavy dependence on Russian gas.

Aside from this, Turkey’s bilateral trade investments with the Zionist entity reached a new high of nearly $5.75 billion in 2020, with Turkey listed among Zionist state’s top 10 trade partners. So what of these hollow statements towards Palestinian injustices? That “defending Al Quds is defending humanity”, and about the “unjust and heartless blockade of Gaza”, that “it’s a necessity of faith to help the oppressed..." And who was he trying to fool when he addressed the UN security council in 2020, in reference to Trump’s so-called ‘Deal of the Century’, strongly articulating that “Jerusalem is a red line... and is not for sale”!!

It was a sad inditement on the state of the Ummah’s leadership to see Erdogan greet the Zionist entity’s President Issac Herzog with such friendliness and familiarity - and even worse, knowing his intent to compromise Islam to achieve wordily benefit at the hands of the enemy of Islam and the Muslims. It was a far cry from the Islamic standard set by our beloved prophet Muhammed saws, which was a sunnah adopted by the nobleman of true and exquisite integrity, Ottoman Khilafah Sultan Abdul Hamid the second (ra). He was a beacon of true leadership, and when offered payment towards the debt of the Othmani state in return for the receipt of greater Palestine, he answered “the land of Palestine has been irrigated by the blood of tens of thousands of Muslims, and (anyway) it is not mine to give away even a handspan of it”. Like the other leaders of the Muslim nation states, established on the back of the second world war and the dissolution of the Islamic and last Ottoman Khilafah – Erdogan’s true intentions are unravelled one by one, exposing a level of hypocrisy only seen since the Capitalist west unleashed their ideology of supremacy and injustice upon the world – where self-interest, empty rhetoric and illicit agendas far more important than worthy and just governance – And the advancement of true governance based on the divine speech of Allah swt, through the establishment of the Ahkam Shariah and the promised rightly guided Khilafah on the way of the Prophethood.

Allah swt says in the Quran:

( يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَتَّخِذُوۡا بِطَانَةً مِّنۡ دُوۡنِكُمۡ لَا يَاۡلُوۡنَكُمۡ خَبَالًا ؕ وَدُّوۡا مَا عَنِتُّمۡ​ۚ قَدۡ بَدَتِ الۡبَغۡضَآءُ مِنۡ اَفۡوَاهِهِمۡ  ۖۚ وَمَا تُخۡفِىۡ صُدُوۡرُهُمۡ اَكۡبَرُ​ؕ قَدۡ بَيَّنَّا لَـكُمُ الۡاٰيٰتِ​ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ‏)

“O you who have believed, do not take as intimates those other than yourselves, for they will not spare you [any] ruin.” [Surah Al Imran 3:118]. Imam Qurturbi commented in his Tafsir,

نهى الله عز وجل المؤمنين بهذه الآية أن يتخذوا من الكفار واليهود وأهل الأهواء دخلاء وولجاء يفاوضونهم في الآراء ، ويسندون إليهم أمورهم

“Allah az wa jal has forbidden the believers with this verse from taking from the kuffar, the Jews and the people of whims and desires as intimates and help, with whom they confer with over opinions and rely upon them in their affairs.”

So how can we seek Victory, if we are loyal and intimate to the kuffar, making alliances with them, negotiating with them over our opinions rather than referring to the Quran and Sunnah, extending them pacts and alliances as well as sharing military secrets, despite their enmity and disbelief?
