There Is No Sovereignty for States Made by Colonialism
Rather, Sovereignty Exists When the State Is Established Upon the Basis of Islam

On Wednesday, the Sudanese government rejected America’s questioning of its legitimacy, following its linking the granting of an entry visa to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to participate in the proceedings of the United Nations General Assembly, with approval of a humanitarian truce. A statement from the Sudanese Foreign Ministry stated that Sudan maintains its national sovereignty, and calls on Washington to deal positively with the Sudanese government.

And the question that is strongly posed is: Is Sudan really an independent and sovereign state?! Before answering the question, it is necessary to define the independent state; and it is the state possessing sovereignty.

The world today is divided, in terms of sovereignty, into three categories:

1- Independent states: They are those that conduct their foreign and domestic policy as they wish, according to their interest, such as France, Britain, China, Russia, and others.

2- States that revolve in the orbit of the major states: They are the states whose foreign policy is connected with other states by a relationship of interest, not subordination; such as Japan with America, and Australia with both America and Britain.

3- Dependent states: They are the states that are restricted by another state in their foreign policy, and in some domestic matters, and they represent most of the states existing in the Islamic lands, and Sudan is one of them.

And the word “sovereignty” is a Western term, intended by it the one who exercises the will, the one who directs it. What confirms that Sudan is a dependent state, and not a state that conducts its affairs as it wishes, but rather things are dictated to it, is the blatant intervention of the Western colonialist states in its internal affairs, especially America; which intervened in the issue of South Sudan until it separated it, with the acknowledgment of the Bashir government, and it is now intervening strongly in the war in Sudan, in order to strip Darfur away. Therefore, we find that its envoy for African and Middle Eastern affairs, Massad Boulos, frequently meets with government officials and intervenes blatantly, and determines what must be done and what must not be done. He said to Al Jazeera on Wednesday, “I met multiple times with army commander Al-Burhan.... and this does not constitute formal recognition of his government!” He also met with the Sudanese Foreign Minister in New York, on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, to discuss developments in the situation in Sudan, and the efforts aimed at ending the conflict and restoring security and stability, according to his claim. He also met on 21 June last with Lieutenant General Al-Kabbashi, and during the meeting the paper he presented to the Sudanese government regarding the humanitarian truce was presented, and other meetings, and his repeated statements on this matter.

In addition to the intervention of the so-called Special Representative of the European Union for the Horn of Africa region, where Annette Weber met with Lieutenant General Al-Burhan on Thursday 10/9/2026. According to Sudan Tribune, she stressed during the meeting that there is no way to resolve the crisis by force. Annette said in a press statement that she discussed with Al-Burhan the political process, and how to restore the orderly change in the country.

Likewise, the intervention of the British envoy Richard Crowder, where he met Al-Burhan on 12/9/2026, and affirmed the necessity of stopping the war and protecting civilians, and ending the humanitarian suffering; through a comprehensive political process, led by the Sudanese.

So, would any of the sovereign states allow Sudan, or any Sudanese official, to intervene in its internal affairs?! The answer is definitely no. So why do we allow these states to intervene in our affairs, if we are truly an independent and sovereign state?!

Indeed, sovereignty in Islam belongs to the Shariah, for it is what determines for us what must be done and what must be left. And Islam is what commands us not to allow the disbelievers to have sovereignty over us. Allah (swt) says: [وَلَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً] “And never will Allah give the disbelievers over the believers a way.” [Surah An-Nisa: 141].

And we will not cease from this subordination except by freeing ourselves from colonialism through establishing the Islamic State; the Khilafah (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood, by which we please our Lord and live under it as free people; servants of Allah alone.

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا للهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ]

“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.” [Surah Al-Anfal: 24]
