Begging to the Jews Neither Liberates Our Land Nor Preserves Our Security

Syrian President of the Transitional Period, Ahmad al-Sharaa, delivered a speech before the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. This was the first address by a Syrian president since the era of Nur al-Din al-Atassi in 1967. During his speech, al-Sharaa outlined his vision for the transitional period, thanking the countries he said supported the Syrian people, specifically Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, all Muslim countries, the United States, and the European Union. He added that “the ‘Israeli’ threats against our country have not abated since December 8th.” Nevertheless, he stressed that “Damascus is using dialogue and diplomacy to overcome this crisis, pledges its commitment to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, and calls on the International Community to stand by it in confronting these dangers.”
In a speech during a summit on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Ahmed al-Sharaa said that the Jewish entity has carried out numerous attacks on Syria, since the new regime took power in Damascus, considering the bombing of the presidential palace in early May a declaration of war. He added that he has reached an advanced stage in security talks with the Jewish entity, which he hopes will preserve Syria’s sovereignty and allay Jewish security concerns. He continued that the first stage is a security agreement, and if the Jewish entity has concerns, they can be discussed through mediators, noting that Syria is moving towards ensuring that its territories do not pose any threat to any region. He stressed that the state of anger in Syria and around the world regarding the events in Gaza is affecting his country's position on the Abraham Accords, and he renewed his call for Washington to lift the sanctions imposed on his country related to the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act.
During his meeting with General David Petraeus, the former military commander in Iraq and Afghanistan, and former director of the CIA, at a session held as part of Concordia University’s annual conference on security and democracy, on Monday, September 22, 2025, in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, al-Sharaa made several statements, including,
“Since our arrival in Damascus, ‘Israel’ has launched numerous attacks on Syria. It has conducted approximately 1,000 raids, destroying many Syrian military, security, and civilian institutions... “‘Israel’ has made 400 ground incursions into Syrian territory, so we have stages to enter into negotiations with it.”
“Syria’s policy is to maintain calm relations with all countries and not to be a source of threat to anyone.”
“We must seek ways for Syrians and ‘Israelis’ to coexist if we want an agreement.”
“Syria is seeking to avoid war because it is in a building phase.”
“Discussions are ongoing with ‘Israel’ regarding the security agreement, and we have reached advanced stages. The ball is in ‘Israel’s’ court and the International Community’s court to determine the real paths we should take.”
“There are converging interests between Syria, America, and the West at this stage.”
One of the most dangerous things Petraeus said, addressing al-Sharaa, was, “This conversation has filled me with enormous hope. Your vision is powerful and clear. Your demeanor is very impressive as well. We wish you strength and wisdom in the difficult work ahead. We obviously hope for your success, inshallah, because at the end of the day, your success is our success.”
During a dialogue session at the Middle East Institute in New York, Ahmed al-Sharaa said, “We cannot import ready-made systems, or import systems from history, copy them, and apply them to Syria.” Speaking about the Jewish entity, he said, “Force alone will not bring peace to ‘Israel,’” adding, “We are not the ones causing problems for ‘Israel.’ We fear it, not the other way around!” This is despite the fact that the people of the revolution in Syria are the proud and honorable ones who humiliated the criminal regime and brought it down through their patience, steadfastness, faith, and certainty in the help of their Almighty Rabb, Allah (swt), despite the Jews and their supporters, led by America and its conspiring and complicit United Nations.
Some may consider Ahmad al-Sharaa’s visit to the United Nations, and his speech, an advanced step and an unprecedented achievement, especially given the polishing and amplification that accompanied it on the ground and through politicized media.
However, this step reveals the extent of the predicament and danger we find ourselves in after the overthrow of Bashar. This is in light of the rush to the United Nations and the international order, controlled by America, to gain approval and acceptance, instead of embracing our Deen and completing the implementation of the principles of our revolution, after Allah’s (swt) assistance carried us victorious to Damascus.
The United Nations and its platform are not a source of justice. Instead, they are a true partner in the crime committed against the people of Syria over decades. Through its Security Council, the criminal Bashar was given a mandate to commit his massacres. His use of barrel bombs, chemical weapons, and various forms of bombing, brutality, and displacement were covered up. His presence was legitimized through its seats and committees, while the Syrian people were being slaughtered and displaced. This organization has never been a champion of truth. It has always been a tool in the hands of the major powers to impose their policies, and achieve their interests, even at the expense of the blood of the people of Syria. So, is there any hope of grapes from thorns?!
Going to the United Nations is neither a victory nor a source of pride. Instead, it is a dangerous political slippery slope, as it means seeking legitimacy from the same entity that granted legitimacy to the criminal Bashar al-Assad, and allowed him to remain in power for all those years.
True legitimacy is not granted by an international body that has lost its credibility. Instead, it is written by the people of the revolution with their blood, steadfastness, and sacrifices in the face of conspirators, including this organization. Furthermore, the assessment of this visit must not be based on the flattery of the enemies, their false smiles, or their malicious politicized media. Instead, it must be based on the agreements reached and the decisions imposed behind the scenes, the disastrous consequences of which will become apparent in the coming days. This will be achieved, whether through the fight against “extremism and terrorism,” the imposition of remnants of the regime in decision-making positions, the push for normalization with the Jewish entity, or the imposition of a secular regime that separates Deen from life, state, and society, on a land whose people sacrificed nearly two million martyrs.
One of the most dangerous political traps is the quest for approval, acceptance, and integration under the cloak of the international order and the United Nations. These are not charitable organizations, but instead colonialist hyenas seeking to subjugate peoples, undermine the decisions of countries, control them and their decisions, and force them to pledge absolute loyalty to the West, led by America.
In the absence of an Islamic state and its leader, simply entering under the international cloak forces the state to follow the lines drawn by colonialist powers, the decisions they pass, and the dictates they impose. This is the truth, far removed from any false illusion.
It is imperative for the revolutionaries to realize the danger of appeasing a complicit institution or a conspiratorial regime. Instead, it is their Shariah obligation to expose the conspiracy they have committed and continue to commit, and to expose all those who have aided the criminal, defunct regime.
Dealing with the Jewish entity, its arrogance, and its conquest, cannot be done by extending leniency or appeasement. Negotiations orchestrated by America are useless, and normalization or involvement in the crime of the Abraham Accords is haraam (forbidden). It is an occupying enemy that sheds our blood. It is haraam to deal with it based on nationalistic borders and the “nationalistic Islam” promoted by the sheikhs and ulema of the ruler, who gather around his banquets. Instead, Islam is a Deen of honor and dignity, a Deen of support and assistance, a Deen of conquest, victory, and liberation. It is a Deen whose repeated motto is, “You have been victorious, O Amr ibn Salem.” It is the heartbeat of the Ummah from east to west, an Ummah yearning for the day of march and liberation (tahrir).
Our conflict with the Jews is a conflict of existence, not a conflict of borders. It is a conflict whose outcome was decided by Allah (swt) His Book and by His Prophet (saw) in his hadiths.
The time has come for us to end begging those abroad. The time has come for us to end the groveling and the enslavement to the truly criminal America, its United Nations, and its international order. The time has come for us to be honored by Islam and its ruling governance under the auspices of a state whose return the Messenger of Allah (saw) gave us glad tidings of: the Second Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly-Guided Caliphate). Only through it, we can regain our honor and regain our mastery of the world. Only through it, we can carry Islam, a message of justice and mercy, to the entire world, standing tall and confident, holding our heads high in the glory of Islam, not bowing our heads in submission to the enemies of Islam who lie in wait for us. Allah (swt) said,
[وَاللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَى أَمْرِهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لا يَعْلَمُونَ]
“And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.” [TMQ Yusuf 21].
