To End the Killing of Muslims by Muslims, Our Identity, Constitution, Ruling Governance, and Foreign Policy Must All Be in Accordance to Islam

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Monday (09/02/2026) stressed the need for a national identity as the National Assembly passed a resolution condemning the attack at an imambargah in Islamabad. Speaking on the floor of the house, Asif said, “It is very important that we have a national identity on which no one disagrees.” ... He said the last four presidents of the United States were responsible for the killings of millions of Muslims. “But we always try to get support from the world powers,” he added. He said India was sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, adding that it was the need of the hour that all Pakistanis be united to foil India’s plan. He said that the Afghan government in the past had agreed with Pakistan’s stance but now were reluctant to give any guarantee for controlling terrorism. “Now, India is using Afghan terrorists against us. India is fighting a proxy war in Pakistan,” he added. (Dawn)

Comment:

The horrific slaughter of worshippers on Friday, 6 February, during the Salah of Jumuah, in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, shocked the Muslims. The Muslims heard of two attackers shooting those who were standing, to make way for the attacker who carried a bomb. They saw images of worshippers who were killed in a bomb blast, whilst prostrating in sujood to Allah (swt). They heard of the young man who survived the attack, but died in hospital after waiting for hours, because the hospital was overwhelmed by the large number of injured. This horrific slaughter sparked a wide debate about ending hostility on the basis of sectarianism, as well as ending other forms of hostility between Muslims. It is within the context of this wide debate that the Defence Minister responded, though his speech both provided no effective solutions and confirmed the failure of the rulers of Pakistan.

As for the statement of the Defence Minister that “It is very important that we have a national identity on which no one disagrees,” the only identity for Muslims is Islam. So, there is no need for the rulers of Muslims to search for a new identity, outside of Islam or even before Islam. There is no need for the rulers of Pakistan to search for a national identity within the Indus Valley Civilization or anything else. There is no need for the rulers of Egypt to search for a national identity within the civilization of the cursed Pharoah. There is no need for the rulers of the Gulf search for a national identity within the jahiliyyah of the Arabs. It is such national identities that have divided the Muslims into over fifty small states, weakening them before their enemies, the United States, the Jewish entity, and the Hindu State.

Indeed, the Islamic identity alone ends destructive rivalry on the basis of sectarianism, madhabism, tribalism, nationalism, and sub-nationalism. Allah (swt) said,

[إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ]

“Indeed, the believers are a brotherhood” [TMQ Surah Al-Hujurat: 10]. Imam Qurtubi said in his Tafsir, أي في الدين والحرمة لا في النَّسَبِ ، وَلِهَذَا قِيلَ أُخُوَّةُ الدِّينِ أَثْبَتُ مِنْ أُخُوَّةِ النَّسَبِ ، فإن أُخُوَّة النَّسَبِ تنْقَطِع بِمُخَالَفَةِ الدِّينِ ، وَأُخُوَّة الدِّينِ لَا تنْقَطِع بِمُخَالَفَةِ النَّسَبِ “That is, in Deen and sanctity, not in race. For this reason, it was said, ‘Brotherhood in Deen is of more permanence than brotherhood by race. Brotherhood by race is severed if it violates the Deen, whilst brotherhood in Deen is never severed by racial differences.’”  And it is the Islamic identity alone that ends division and gathers all Muslims as a single powerful community (jama’ah) and state. Allah (swt) said,

[وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا]

“Hold fast to the rope of Allah and do not be divided” [TMQ Surah Aali Imran: 103]. Ibn Kathir stated in his Tafsir that, أمرهم بالجماعة ونهاهم عن التفرقة “He (swt) orders the Muslims to be a single community and He (swt) forbids them from dividing.”  However, the rulers of Pakistan are secular in their viewpoint about life, so they separate Islam from identity, media, education, constitution, ruling governance, and foreign policy.

As for the statement of the Defence Minister, “India is fighting a proxy war in Pakistan,” as well as his observation that the last four presidents of the United States were responsible for the killings of millions of Muslims, Islam adopts a stance of war against the warring disbelievers. Had the rulers of Pakistan truly adopted a stance of war against the Hindu State, they would not have ended the limited war with India in May 2025, after a mere four days. Instead, the fighting would have continued until the liberation of Occupied Kashmir, as the first of many victories to re-establish the dominance of Islam over the entire Indian Subcontinent. Moreover, the rulers of Pakistan make trade agreements and military alliances with the United States, even though it fights Muslims and assists both the Jewish entity and the Hindu State in their fighting of Muslims. And the rulers of Pakistan participate in the Board of Peace of Trump, which is an alliance with the United States and the Jewish entity, with an open invitation extended to the Hindu State. Thus the rulers of Pakistan restrain our army from fighting our enemies, whilst making alliances with the disbelievers, even though Allah (swt) said,

[إِنَّمَا يَنْهَاكُمْ اللَّهُ عَنْ الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلَى إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَنْ تَوَلَّوْهُمْ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمْ الظَّالِمُونَ]

“Allah forbids your alliance with those who fight you because of your Deen, and drive you from your homelands, or aid others to do so: and as for those who turn to them in alliance, they are truly oppressors” [TMQ Surah Al-Mumtahina: 9].

O Muslims of Pakistan and Their Army! We will continue to burn in the fires of sectarianism, madhabism, tribalism, nationalism, and sub-nationalism as long as we allow secular, nationalist rulers to govern us. They weaken us through division, whilst strengthening our enemies through alliances and agreements. They are the obstacle to restoring Islam as the basis of our identity, constitution, ruling governance, and foreign policy. It is upon all of us to do righteous deeds and sacrifice until we replace these oppressive rulers with the Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) on the Method of Prophethood. It is the Khilafah that will restore our strength, unifying the entire Islamic Ummah from Indonesia to Morocco, in obedience to Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw). Allah (swt) said,

[وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلاَ تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَاصْبِرُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ]

“And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and thus lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient” [TMQ Surah Al-Anfal: 46].
