 News Right Now: Safeguarding Ash-Sham

The recent fall of Bashar al-Assad, Syria has found itself under renewed assault as the Zionist entity has opportunistically targeted its military facilities and infrastructure, with specifically targeting strategic points such as air defense systems, military bases, and weapons depots across Syria, including areas near Damascus, Aleppo, and Latakia. The precision strikes on key military branches, including radar installations near Damascus, missile depots in Latakia, and air defense systems in Deir ez-Zor, reveal a calculated strategy to weaken the Mujahideen as well as take full advantage of the situation, where they slowly usurp more territory without facing a battle. Then there’s the US who has also carried out airstrikes claiming to target the ISIS leaders, operatives and camps to ensure that they can’t take advantage of Assad's fall.

What is worth mentioning is the lack of accountability faced by the United States and “Israel” in their actions against Syria. The new leadership in Syria, despite its hopes for change, have not really responded effectively to these aggressors. While faced with numerous internal and external challenges, their limited ability to confront these violations has left Syria increasingly vulnerable and potentially paved way for the West to do what it does best – manipulate the situation and play it out as though they are the heroes with the secular values and systems which saved the day!

Real change, however, cannot be reactionary or partial. The piecemeal approach that has characterized responses to previous crises has only deepened the scars of our Ummah without a comprehensive vision for what lies ahead, even the most well-intentioned efforts will falter. The absence of a unified, forward-thinking strategy has left us vulnerable to repeated cycles of violence and exploitation. The lack of vision of what exactly comes next will only allow the noble cause once again be hijacked by the colonialists like the other revolutions that achieved half a victory, removing faces and replacing them with faces that kept their agents and secular constitutions, such as Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Yemen, which live in worse conditions than they were in!

The real change that the people of ash-Sham seek is the change that eliminates the fallen regime with all its pillars of values, constitution and men, and that cuts off its relations with all the Western colonial powers, and does not seek to establish a secular civil state in order to gain the West’s approval and silence its rule. The real change is what the Ummah today yearns for, it is the radical transformation rooted in justice and security for its people. The dignity the Muslims have a right for from their leaders, their protectors, their rulers! The honour they should have been treated with for being citizens of a state, fulfilling their duties and roles commanded upon them! The real change is the call for the re-establishment of the Khilafah, which has historically provided unity and protection to the Muslim Ummah, which is not far from a nostalgic ideal but a pressing necessity. Only through the Khilafah can Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and every other devastated nation reclaim their sovereignty, dignity, and future, biitnillah.

Allah swt says:

“They are˺ those who, if established in the land by Us, would perform prayer, pay alms-tax, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil. And with Allah rests the outcome of all affairs.” [Surah Al-Hajj verse 41]

We pray to Allah (swt) to hasten the true victory, the day we see the collapse of evil and the rise of Islam, the Khilafah system. Ameen!
