Welcome to News Right Now: ‘Sick Sports’
This week footballer Idrissa Gueye who plays for the French team Paris Saint-Germain, caused controversy in Europe when he actively sat out of a game for what he called “personal reasons”. Club officials were told in anonymity by Idrissa’s associates that he didn't want to wear the rainbow logo on his shirt as it represents the global LGBT movement - and therefore not promote the immoral and lewd behaviors of homosexuals which secular society everywhere has become obsessed with.
As the news broke, Idrissa was publicly called upon to explain his actions and disprove the rumors, by photographing himself wearing the shirt! A ridiculous and petty way to identify his allegiences - but one that has become so typical of the French when it comes to any identifier of Islam. As well as this, Idrissa faced a backlash from the sports media, where people were quick to accuse him of discrimination against minorities, hatred and homophobia.
Unfortunately for this man of integrity, the ugly response to his Islamic principles was to be expected - as the multi billion dollar sports industry has always been a vehicle through which secular, hyper liberal values are exported around the world and easily normalized within populations. Historically, cigarette companies were the main sponsors of football teams, and today the majority of sponsors are gambling and alcohol companies who use every avenue and means to display their logos throughout stadiums, on tickets, in advertising, on food packaging, and even on the players’ clothing.
The LGBT lobby is a global one, and in much of Europe and even America its said to be more powerful than the Zionist lobby! So naturally the easiest way to subvert the mentality of the masses to achieve acceptance and pride in homosexuality, is through football - the ‘beautiful game’ as it’s known, given its universal appeal and a massive global following which is epitomized by the World Cup.
However alhamdulillah, the overwhelming support Idrissa received from Muslims all over the world got the soundness of his stance trending on social media, with thousands of tweets and comments on #istandwithidrissa and #weareallidriss - giving a long overdue and much needed, unified, slap in the face to the LGBTQ movement!
The hypocrisy of the football and wider sports industry is typical of the general inconsistency that the secular hyper- liberal West has towards anyone else's values.
This is obvious from the obnoxious letter the French Football Federation chairman Patrick Anton wrote to Idrissa saying, “By refusing to take part in this operation, you are validating discriminatory behavior (and) the rejection of others, and not just against those in the LGBTQ+ movement,” Anton continued. “The impact of soccer in society and the way players are role models for those who admire them gives all of us a personal sense of responsibility. We hope this letter makes you conscious of the fact you need to clarify your position, or to make amends.”
Firstly, the assumption that Idrissa can, and should only! aspire to be a role model for westerners and not his Senagalise countryman or anyone else, is beyond arrogant, and so typical of the lasting legacy of French colonial exceptionalism and racism! The idea that Idrissa should suddenly throw away his own Islamic principles and beliefs just because he’s playing for a French team at the moment is outrageous, even by Western society’s own standards of religious freedom!
This usual, aggressive and hostile attitude of the West towards anyone who doesn’t succumb to their own lowly values is absolute proof that secular democracies are in no way capable of upholding the very rights and therefore systems they arrogantly champion. Personal freedom and freedom of religion or belief, are just slogans that trick people into thinking they have rights - but in reality, all the rights that liberalism allows people to want, come at the expense of something else - creating a never ending cycle of even greater societal ills and social problems.
Allah swt reminds us in the Quran ...
“O you who have believed, obey Allāh and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allāh and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allāh and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result”. [Surah Nisa v 59]
