News Right Now: Erdogan Abandons the Uyghur Muslims

The governing Liberal Party-led Coalition and main oppression Labor party united to block a formal vote to investigate the treatment of the Uyghurs as genocide. Turkish law makers hopped on this train last week in Ankara, when they rejected to investigate the Uyghur case as well, even though back in 2009, Erdogan classified what was happening to the Uyghur Muslims as genocide and pressed China to end its harsh policies. It was Turkey that was the only Muslim nation to regularly express concern about the situation in Xinjiang, but as all things come to an end, so did his concern.

Xinjiang is home to Turkic speaking Uyghurs, who the Chinese government claims to be “Extremists, terrorists, and separatists”. Therefore, China has put approximately 3 million Muslims into concentration camps, which China calls “re-education centers” to combat extremism. In these “centers” Muslims have to recite Chinese political slogans. Along with being forced to eat pork and drink alcohol. Many tortured with snakes and dogs. Women have been raped and have had their uterus removed so that they no longer have Muslim babies. Also, forcing them to marry ethnically Han Chinese men. The Uyghur Muslims also face beatings, imprisonment, getting their organs harvested, and getting cement poured down their throats. They are alone, with no contact with their families. Many were detained at night leaving some family members without a trace of where they could have gone. Even though deep down they know they have gone into the so called “re-education centers”.

Months of protests have been carried out in Istanbul in front of the Chinese Consulate by Turkey-based Uyghurs who are trying to find missing family members, expecting them to have been placed into these concentration camps while fearing they too will one day be detained and deported to China and placed into these camps as well. But this January, policed banned these protests over what they claim is for “security reasons” and because of the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, in early February, some protesters moved the protests to Ankara to protest in front of the Chinese embassy. Protesting, demanding answers from China. Many have contacted the Chinese embassy, asking for information about their loved ones, who they were forced to leave behind. Many of them have left behind their children due to the population law in China. The Chinese embassy is still giving no answer.

The night after the Chinese embassy tweeted that these protests were spreading “Fake News”, some protesters were arrested and promised to be released if they were to end their protests. Then, on February 15, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu made a statement warning the protesters to not fall into the trap of a “planned international conflict that comes beyond the ocean”.

We mentioned how Erdogan expressed concern in the past, but what changed? He went as far as calling it genocide but when push comes to shove, nothing happens! Nearly empty words! Why?

Well, what is very clearly visible now, is how his alliance with Europe has shifted and is getting worse. Therefore, he is in need of an alternative to help him in an economic context. We see that even more than a decade ago he verbally stood by the Uyghurs and criticized China, but in 2019 he made agreements with China to have relations of trade, energy, defense, and more! Then, to make their bond even stronger, Turkey is taking the Covid-19 vaccinations from China. Even worse, the Chinese media read out that according to President Xi Jinping in Beijing, Erdogan “Struck a more positive note” and that he supported China’s decision in fighting so called “extremism”. The State Television paraphrased Erdogan saying, “It is a fact that the peoples of China’s Xinjiang region live happily in China’s development and prosperity… Turkey does not permit any person to incite disharmony in the Turkey-China relationship. Turkey firmly opposes extremism and is willing to increase mutual political trust with China and strengthen security cooperation.”

This is the truth. As soon as he finds interests for himself, he sells out the Muslim Ummah. He VERBALLY defended the Uyghurs, while taking no action to solve the issue. And now that he needs China, it is like these Muslims, these brothers and sisters of ours, mean nothing. He has sold this Ummah. He sold the Uyghurs. This is who he really is. Erdogan, who put on a show about a decade ago to gain “supporters” but as soon as he needed China’s support, all his words flew out the window.

When will we wake up and realize that we can’t rely on empty promises and words from rulers like Erdogan?! The Muslim issue is getting worse and worse while the west and their agents wage war on Islam. Trying to weaken faith and trust in Allah! But, by Allah, we will rise again, for this is the promise of Allah (swt). Now let’s work together, with Hizb ut Tahrir, to bring back our shield and grant Nussrah to the Muslims of Xinjiang! Let us work together to bring back out Khilafah Rashidah, rightly guided Caliphate, on the method of Prophethood! Let us call on the Armies for Nussrah! It’s time! Enough listening to empty words and promises.
