News Right Now: A Peaceful Life for Non-Muslims

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Welcome to News Right Now - A Peaceful Life for Non-Muslims

The attacks on Sri Lankan churches which killed hundreds of people on April 21st came as a shock to not only the world, but to followers of Sri Lankan politics. Analysts note that relations between Christians and Muslims in Sri Lanka had been calm and there were no signs of discord between the two minority groups in the overwhelmingly Buddhist country. In fact, both Muslims and Christians had developed a kind of solidarity, both having been persecuted by the dominant Sinhalese Buddhist population.

The horrific attack, aside from its savagery, was shocking because it pitted two communities that previously had no discord, leading many to question why such an attack was carried out in the first place. In fact, just last year, the Sri Lankan government imposed a nationwide state of emergency following a series of mob attacks in its central district of Kandy against its Muslim minority by Buddhist extremists. Hundreds of Buddhists, from the country’s majority Sinhalese ethnic group, carrying sticks, rocks and petrol bombs attacked dozens of Muslim businesses, homes and mosques, setting many alight.

According to media reports, a young Muslim man died inside a burning house. One Muslim civil activist stated, “Men are on the road looking for Muslims and even checking in the buses that are passing through Sinhala villages.” There were also repeated allegations that police and security forces stood idly by, watching while Muslim houses and shops were destroyed, failing to take action against the mobs or arrest perpetrators of the attacks.

Clearly, if there were tensions and a vendetta, the Christians would not be a natural target.
One likely scenario is that this tragically cowardly attack was orchestrated specifically to create a climate of fear, mistrust, and hatred between the nation’s Muslims and Christians. History has shown that outside powers infiltrate, sponsor, or manipulate local extremists to create an incident such as this, giving way to a foreign intervention.

Similarly, attacking Christians and creating a culture of fear regarding their safety is a virtual invitation for the Western world to interfere in the affairs of Sri Lanka because Christians and Christianity often times symbolize the West. Regardless of the perpetrators of this crime and the motive, prevailing narrative will likely revolve around the bogus “War on Terror.” Contrary to the widely propagated notion that Islam would lead to the persecution and torture of religious minorities, the solution to end such attacks is to establish the Islamic Khilafah, which will implement the Islamic rules of protecting its non-Muslim citizens.

The Prophet (s) said:

«مَنْ قَتَلَ مُعَاهَدًا لَمْ يَرِحْ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ رِيحَهَا تُوجَدُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ عَامًا»

”Whoever killed a Mua’hid (Dhimmi i.e. a non-Muslim citizen of the Islamic state) he will not even be able to smell the perfume of Jannah, although the perfume of Jannah could be smelled at the distance of 40 years” [Bukhari]

The Khilafah would exert itself to provide justice and protect its citizens. Non-Muslims would be under covenant and no one could claim that it is legitimate to attack them.

Today, both Muslims and non-Muslim blood is spilled, there is no Imam to protect them and no State to retaliate on their behalf - a fact that aggressors of all kinds knowingly exploit.

Jazakum Allahu khairan for joining us. Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
