Obituary of a Daw’ah Carrier
Omar Abdel Rahim Khatib (Abu Abdo Khatib)
[مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلاً]
“Among the believers are men who have proven true to what they pledged to Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their pledge ˹with their lives˺, others are waiting ˹their turn˺. They have never changed ˹their commitment˺ in the least.” [Al-Ahzab 33:23]

Believing in the decree of Allah Almighty, Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Syria mourns to Muslims in general, and to the campaigners of the call in particular, Brother Omar Abdul Rahim Khatib (Abu Abdo Khatib), one of its members, from the village of Arhab in the western countryside of Aleppo, and who passed away at the age of 50, in which he spent in obedience to Allah Almighty.

He was known, may Allah have mercy on him, for his refined manners and gentle character. He possessed high aspirations, unwavering determination, and a deep zeal for the Deen of Allah, working tirelessly to implement His Divine Law under the Khilafah (Caliphate). He carried the call to Islam with sincerity, patience, and steadfastness, enduring hardship, persecution, imprisonment, and difficult living conditions. He was arrested during the era of the former regime in 2006 and released in 2011, continuing his mission of spreading the message with Hizb ut Tahrir, patiently and with the hope of reward from Allah Almighty.

He participated in the Syrian revolution from its inception until Allah granted us liberation, until Allah decreed that he should depart from us today to the abode of eternity and Allah's mercy.

May Allah have mercy on him, he lived carrying the message of Islam and the project of the Khilafah, steadfast in his covenant with Allah. This is how we perceive him, and we do not presume to judge anyone before Allah.

We ask Allah to accept him among the righteous, to enfold him in His boundless mercy, and to grant him the highest Paradise in the company of the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous—and how excellent a company they are! We also ask Him, the Exalted, to grant us and his family patience and solace.

To Allah belongs what He gives and what He takes, and everything with Him has an appointed time. We say only what pleases our Lord, the Exalted: [إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ]“to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return”.
