Press Release
The rulers of Pakistan are fearful of the rising Islamic awakening among the Muslims of Pakistan and, through implementation of the National Action Plan, are attempting—unsuccessfully—to halt it by turning Pakistan into more of a “hard state.”

The rulers’ aggressive and ruthless conduct against the TLP rally has sent waves of unease through Pakistan’s religious circles and astonished every conscious Muslim. However, this iron-handed approach by Pakistan’s rulers is not an isolated or unique act; rather it is part of a series of successive measures the rulers have taken in recent times, measures that intensified when Pakistan’s rulers agreed to shoulder the implementation of Trump’s plan together with the rulers of the Arab and other Muslim countries, a plan whose objective is to protect the Jewish presence from the resistance of the Palestinian Muslims. And when the Muslims of Pakistan rejected Trump’s 20-point plan, the rulers set about creating an atmosphere of fear by arresting and forcibly disappearing young activists mobilized for the cause of Palestine across the length and breadth of the country — including several youths of Hizb ut Tahrir — who, through their dawah activities, had made the demand that the Armed Forces of Pakistan take action to eliminate the Jewish presence and liberate al-Aqsa, into the voice of the Ummah.

To conceal this continuance of oppression and tyranny, Pakistan’s rulers now invoke the excuse that the TLP has in the past exceeded limits and adopted violent methods — whereas the reality is that the real culprits in this entire situation are the rulers themselves, whose policies are leaving tens of millions of Pakistanis feeling insecure and anxious about their sacred values. The conduct of Pakistan’s rulers is completely different from that of the former state of the Caliphate, which used to act on Islam’s obligations even before people demanded them; that is why people considered that Caliphate to be their state and stood alongside it to fulfill Islam’s objectives, and they did not need to take to public places.

Since the creation of Pakistan, the ruling elite have known that Pakistan’s Muslims feel betrayed in the name of Islam and were used as fodder to establish a secular state. To keep that religious deprivation and the absence of a collective goal asleep, the Pakistani state has polished Islam superficially over secularism. The colonial masters of the Pakistani state, given the then geopolitical circumstances, also allowed the ruling elite to implement some Islamic laws. However, for the past three decades across Pakistan and the entire Muslim world, the rising Islamic awakening — and the criminal negligence over the genocide in Gaza — has caused this facade of Islam by rulers to fail in reassuring Muslims, and with each passing day pressure mounts on Pakistan’s rulers from the Muslims to base their foreign relations on Islam’s commands rather than on America’s orders. The Muslims of Pakistan want to see Pakistan’s brave armed forces wage jihad against the Jewish presence, eliminate it, and liberate Bayt al-Maqdis — not see these forces provide security guarantees for the Jewish presence under Trump’s leadership! In response to this growing popular pressure, Pakistan’s rulers are brandishing the “hard state” model, following in the footsteps of Mustafa Kemal — the founder of secularism — the Al Saud, and Husni Mubarak, and they have forgotten how Allah turns oppressive rulers into examples for people of the earth.

Pakistan’s rulers are engaged in a persistent struggle with the Muslims of Pakistan and seek to change Pakistanis’ viewpoints and their Islamic sentiments by the muzzle of a gun and by their nefarious actions so that they conform to the secular perspective of the state and become as callous as these rulers themselves. It is therefore these very rulers who have demonized religiosity and labelled it extremism so as to keep Pakistan’s Muslims from demanding the full implementation of Islam. It is these rulers who, like political circles, use bribery to co-opt some figures from religious circles and intimidate others so they serve the rulers’ agenda; their aim is to shame Pakistan’s Muslims for their deep attachment to Islam and convince them that religiosity brings bad consequences. It is the ruling clique that deliberately designed the education curriculum in such a way as to keep people confused about Islam so that implementing Islam could not become their firm goal. Through liberal media policy, Pakistan’s rulers are pushing people toward materialism, hedonism, and a secular lifestyle, attempting to distance them from the Islamic way of life. Through capitalist policies they have ground the majority of Pakistan’s population in the mill of poverty so that they remain trapped in a daily survival struggle and policy-making stays under the control of a powerful secular political elite without interference.

Pakistan’s rulers have become nothing but pure evil. They create evil, nurture evil, and, for their personal interests, plunge Pakistan into the flames of malevolence. As a preemptive measure against any resistance to Trump’s peace plan, they have turned Punjab into a killing field. Earlier they had made the entire tribal areas a killing field to crush the resistance present there against the US occupying forces in Afghanistan; they deepened rather than healed the injustices meted out to the Muslims of Balochistan and turned Balochistan into fertile ground for the nefarious operations of hostile forces. These rulers are the cancer that has engulfed every aspect of the lives of Pakistan’s Muslims.

Therefore, all religious and clerical leadership must not be content with partial demands but should unite to remove these rulers and strive for the establishment of the Islamic system of the Caliphate so that the problem may be uprooted, evil ended, and the Muslims of this region may live under the just system of Islam in peace and security. You will certainly enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, otherwise Allah will send upon you the worst among you; then the best of you will supplicate, but their supplication will not be accepted for you." (Reported by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Mu‘jam al-Awsaṭ)

For the past quarter century, the youth of Hizb ut Tahrir have been working for the reestablishment of the Caliphate on the Islamic soil of Pakistan — advance and become the hand and arm of these sincere and earnest efforts of the youth of Hizb ut Tahrir.
