On the afternoon of Friday, October 23, 2026, Al-Mamlaka Channel—citing an unnamed source—reported that two gunmen stepped out of a vehicle and opened fire during a funeral service at the Hamoud Church in Karak. The attack resulted in the deaths of 7 people and left 34 others injured. In light of this criminal assault, we state the following:
- We affirm that the non-Muslim inhabitants of Jordan—including Christians—lived for many centuries under the Khilafah (Caliphate) in a state of security and tranquility, based on the principle: "They are entitled to the same fairness as we are, and they bear the same responsibilities as we do," as well as the principle that "non-Muslims are left to their own beliefs and forms of worship, provided they remain within the framework of public order." It should be noted that this act of aggression has been condemned by Muslims at large—both scholars and the general public—which confirms that such crimes are not only unendorsed by Islam but are entirely alien to the Muslim community, having no roots among them; the environment that allowed for such acts only emerged following the dismantling of the Khilafah.
This assault is part of the schemes and crimes of America and Europe—schemes that are bloody, inhumane, and immoral. The primary beneficiary of such an assault is the Jewish entity, which continues its aggression against Gaza and the West Bank, killing innocent people. Amidst its plans for expansion, annexation, and forced displacement, the entity seeks to fabricate justifications to escape the predicament of global condemnation of its crimes, while simultaneously preparing for aggression against Jordan, inciting strife, and intensifying its attacks on Islam and Muslims.
- This reprehensible attack has absolutely nothing to do with Islam. It is one of countless criminal assaults against Islam and Muslims across the globe—part of a long series of terrorist crimes perpetrated by America, Europe, and the Jewish entity. These acts are designed to be falsely attributed to Islam and Muslims, thereby propagating the myth of an "extremist" or "terrorist" version of the faith. This serves to sow discord within Muslim lands and incite global fear of Islam—a phenomenon known as Islamophobia—ultimately aiming to justify their own barbaric aggressions against Muslim Ummahs, while preemptively countering the aspirations and efforts of Muslims to establish the Khilafah and restore the Islamic way of life.
- In this regard, we affirm that the rights of non-Muslims are protected under the Shariah of Allah; it is not permissible to harm them—whether by killing or any other form of injury—in light of the words of the Prophet (saw): «مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلاً مِنْ أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ لَمْ يَرَحْ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ، وَإِنَّ رِيحَهَا لَيُوجَدُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ عَاماً»“Whoever kills a Mu'ahid who has the protection of Allah and the protection of his Messenger, will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, even though its fragrance may be detected from a distance of Seventy years”. This is the course that the Khulafaa’ (Caliphs) who succeeded him followed and implemented; furthermore, jurists have explicitly stated that it is forbidden to mistreat the dhimmis —non-Muslim citizens living under the authority of Islam.
The absence of the Khilafah State is the primary and most significant reason why such attacks have become possible and recurrent under a system of secularism and alignment with the colonialist West. The justice of the Khilafah and the care it extended to those living under its authority are well known to Christians; indeed, it was only under its aegis that they were able to live for centuries in peace and security.
“Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book! Let us come to common terms: that we will worship none but Allah, associate none with Him, nor take one another as lords instead of Allah.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we have submitted ˹to Allah alone˺” [TMQ Aali’Imran 3:64].
