In 1953, the eminent scholar and thinker Sheikh Taqiudeen An-Nabhani established the Islamic political party Hizb ut Tahrir with the goal of resuming Islam as a way of life through the re-establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" state. This is the system of ruling defined by the Islamic texts that implements the Islamic Shariah laws comprehensively upon society, protects Islam and propagates it to humanity.
