 Press Release
NATO Office in Jordan: Submission and Pledging of the Country to Serve the Colonial Interests of the Enemies of the Ummah
(Translated)

On Thursday, 12 June 2025, Jordan and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) signed an agreement in Brussels to host the alliance’s diplomatic liaison office in the capital, Amman. The agreement was signed on behalf of Jordan by Ambassador Yusuf Bataineh, the accredited ambassador to NATO, and on behalf of the alliance by Javier Colomina, NATO’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, who praised the distinguished relations with Jordan and appreciated Jordan’s hosting of the office and its pivotal role in the region, considering it a reliable partner for the alliance in multiple fields.

In a previous decision by the Council of Ministers in its session held on 4 May 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, it was stated that the approval of the agreement with NATO comes in line with the interests of the Jordanian state and its orientation toward opening a headquarters for NATO’s liaison office, as part of attracting as many international organizations as possible to make the Kingdom a center for international and regional organizations.

At the 2024 NATO Leaders' Summit in Washington, the alliance adopted the decision to establish a liaison office in Jordan — the first of its kind in the region. At that time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasized that the decision to open the office represents “a milestone in the deep strategic partnership between Jordan and the alliance, and it commends Jordan’s longstanding achievements in combating cross-border threats such as terrorism and violent extremism.”

This international military alliance is based on hegemony, expansion, and Western colonial domination led by America and Europe, and on igniting local and regional wars that have plunged the world into endless conflict and tension. It was established after World War II when 12 founding countries signed the NATO Treaty in 1949 to protect European countries from the threat of the Soviet Union at the time. After the Warsaw Pact ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO should have been dissolved, but America was keen on its continuation to maintain its dominance over Western countries especially the European Union and to use it against other countries.

Justifications were fabricated for its continued existence, such as the "War on Terror," which means war on Islam. NATO formed what it called partnerships and alliances through regional frameworks like the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, and even advanced individual partnerships with some countries like Jordan, serving NATO’s strategic interests, turning it into a colonial tool in the hands of America.

As for the role of the NATO office in Amman, it was described by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg as follows: “Jordan is considered a long-standing and highly valued partner of NATO.” The regional spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Samuel Werberg, stated in an interview with the Jordan News Agency on the sidelines of the previous NATO summit that his country values the vital role played by the Kingdom in regional stability.

These statements from NATO and U.S. officials indicate that the regime in Jordan has been performing its assigned role since its establishment as a functional entity protecting Western colonial interests, foremost among them the empowerment and preservation of the Jewish entity as a British, and later American and European, strategic spearhead to implement colonial projects and prevent the Ummah from achieving its revival project through the establishment of its Islamic state, the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate). The regime's abandonment of the people of Gaza is a blatant example of this subservience and of the services for which Jordan's role is being elevated to harness its resources and people to serve the colonial disbeliever by opening a NATO liaison office.

The regime did not stop at a joint defense agreement with the U.S.; it also established military bases for the U.S. and Europe and allowed thousands of their soldiers to be stationed on its territory not for any purpose other than protecting the Jewish entity and Western colonial interests. This is the true intent behind the anticipated cooperation that can be envisioned from opening a NATO liaison office, to serve its interests in hegemony and control, and to harness Jordan’s security, military, logistical, and cyber capabilities, allowing America to focus on its competitive and hegemonic wars.

The regime has gone too far in placing Jordan in the eye of danger and in mobilizing its resources and forces to defend its enemies and wage war on Islam and its advocates. It has silenced voices and brutally oppressed anyone who exposed its reality through arrests, abuse, and torture. It has mobilized a group of lackeys, well known to the Ummah to beautify its treachery and vile actions. The activities of military alliances, most recently the NATO office on Muslim lands, such as security and cyber cooperation and military exercises like “Eager Lion” conducted in Jordan for over a decade, as well as the military and security agreements related to bases, airports, and ports, provide NATO with practical experience of great significance the consequences of which affect the lives, blood, and sanctities of Muslims, and grant the disbelieving countries power over Islamic lands. This diminishes the state’s sovereignty over its own land something that is impermissible in Islam, for it gives disbelievers authority over the believers.

[وَلَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً]

“and never will Allah give the disbelievers over the believers a way [to overcome them].” [Surat An-Nisa:141]
