Houthi Authorities Arrest Another Member from Hizb ut Tahrir
(Translated)

On Thursday, January 22, 2026 CE (corresponding to Sha'ban 3, 1447 AH), Houthi security forces arrested Abdul Wahab Sultan Zayed al-Baroushi from a mosque in Amran Governorate while he was performing the noon prayer. He remains in detention as of the date of this statement. His alleged offense was stating to someone that the republican system is unsuitable for managing the affairs of Muslims. He explained that it is an imitation of the French Republic, the birthplace of secularism, which is an enemy of Islam and Muslims. He further stated that the form of government in Islam is neither republican nor monarchical, but rather a Khilafah (Caliphate) that establishes sovereignty for Allah's law, implements Islam domestically, and carries its message to the world.

The Houthi authorities, who rule under a secular republican system of Western origin and man-made laws, were displeased with the discussion. They tracked him down until they found him in the mosque, seized the opportunity, and summoned security forces and soldiers to arrest him!

Abdul Wahhab, by speaking the truth, appeared to the Houthis as a martyr, like Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib, and how could they possibly refute him? The call for a Khilafah and rule by Islam disturbs them, and they are powerless, like other oppressive rulers of Muslim lands, to respond to it except through intimidation or imprisonment.

The Houthis know the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir very well, and they are fully aware of Hizb ut Tahrir's methodology for change, aiming to establish the second Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) based on the Prophetic model. What they fear most is the response to the enlightened intellectual campaign that exposes the injustices of oppressive regimes, revealing their flaws and falsehoods in abandoning the Khilafah as the Islamic system of governance, and instead adopting Western models and republicanisms as their systems of government. The impact of this intellectual campaign is more potent against them than the sting of bullets, so they have resorted to arresting the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir!

We say to the Houthis: You are not alone in standing against the call of the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir, who advocate for the unification of Muslim lands under the Khilafah, which rules by Islam and spreads goodness throughout the world. The Jewish entity preceded you in this, as the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir in Palestine are imprisoned there. The same is true of the Abbas Authority, the rulers of Jordan, the Golan Heights regime in Syria, and all the oppressive rulers across the globe. We do not know how to explain the presence of Hizb ut Tahrir members in their prisons and yours! Are the regimes similar, or are the hearts the same? The regimes are undoubtedly similar in their origins. They all sprang from the ideology of separating religion from life and were born from the womb of capitalist principles. Slogans and glittering titles under the guise of the Quranic movement will not avail you, while you rule and submit to the tyranny of the United Nations and international law, instead of ruling by the Quran and Sunnah. You imprison those who enjoin good and forbid evil!

We address the wise among you with the words of Allah Almighty:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ]

“O believers! Respond to Allah and His Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah stands between a person and their heart, and that to Him you will all be gathered.” [Al-Anfal 8:24]. The call to implement Allah's law and reject the laws of disbelief (kufr) is a call that revives you, revives the Muslim Ummah, and saves humanity from the tyranny of capitalism. So do not be deceived by the fleeting positions and power of this world, nor let pride lead you to sin, lest your fate be disgrace in this life and torment in the Hereafter.

Our message to the members of the security establishment is: Fear Allah and do not make yourselves tools of injustice by fighting the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir. They are not as the media outlets backed by the disbelieving West portray them. Know that those who use you in injustice today will be used by Allah against you tomorrow. Allah Almighty says:

[وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْصَرُونَ]

“And do not be inclined to the wrongdoers or you will be touched by the Fire. For then you would have no protectors other than Allah, nor would you be helped” [Hud 11:113]. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: «مَنْ أَعَانَ ظَالِماً سَلَّطَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ» “Whoever helps an oppressor, Allah will empower that oppressor against him.”

As for the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir, they have dedicated themselves to being faithful guardians of Islam, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, fearing no blame in the cause of Allah. Neither the prisons of the oppressors nor the arrests will deter them. Neither Netanyahu, nor Abbas, nor al-Julani, nor the House of Saud, nor you, nor any of the rulers can stop us from striving to make the Muslim Ummah adopt Islam as its ultimate cause and establish the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the methodology of the Prophethood, the promise of Allah and the glad tidings of His Messenger (saw). So, consider where you stand: Are you on the side of the Khilafah and those calling for its establishment, or are you on the side of the West and those who rushed to ally with it for fear of being labeled as terrorists, and who have become subservient to the temple of capitalism?

[فَتَرَى الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ يُسَارِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَى أَنْ تُصِيبَنَا دَائِرَةٌ فَعَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ بِالْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَيُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَا أَسَرُّوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ نَادِمِينَ]

“You see those with sickness in their hearts racing for their guardianship, saying ˹in justification˺, “We fear a turn of fortune will strike us.” But perhaps Allah will bring about ˹your˺ victory or another favour by His command, and they will regret what they have hidden in their hearts.” [Al-Ma'idah 5:52]

We call upon our people in Yemen to support Hizb ut Tahrir so that we may establish the Islamic State, the Khilafah (Caliphate), and eliminate capitalism and its injustice, thus being the pioneers of this great good.
