News Right Now: A Bootless Errand
The UK is gearing up for upcoming general elections, and there is growing frustration among Muslim communities in Britain regarding the country's support for the Zionist entity’s brutal and ruthless attack on Palestine. Many Muslim voters feel let down by the Labour Party's direct support of “Israel's” military operations in Gaza, which have resulted in the death and injuries of over 100,000 civilians and widespread destruction. Labour leader Keir Starmer stated at one point that “Israel” had the “right” to cut power and water supplies to millions of Palestinians in Gaza. This struck outrage in Muslim communities in the UK, and after days of attempting to ignore the reaction to his statement, Starmer backtracked, saying, "I was not saying that Israel had the right to cut off water, food, fuel or medicines."
After four months passed of continuous slaughter, mass murder, and unspeakable oppression on the part of the Zionist entity, the party has since changed its stance on the war on Gaza. It wasn’t until after the resignation of dozens of senior Labour figures and shadow figures in addition to almost 70 Labour parliamentarians defied party policy to call for a ceasefire did the party follow suit and as a whole shift its stance. According to Middle East Eye, “Analysis published last week found that Labour lost a third of its vote share in areas with a Muslim majority during recent local elections.”
In addition to this finding, several candidates who are anti-war and have been opposing the UK’s stance on Gaza won seats in the parliament in the recent local elections. This has lended hope to the frustrated Muslim community, whose frustration has led to calls for mobilizing the "Muslim vote" and issuing demands to the Labour leadership to regain trust among this significant voting bloc. The goal stated has been to “reinvigorate the spirit of democracy... where people feel they have alternatives beyond the two-party system.”
Brothers and sisters, the goal of today’s podcast is to open our listeners' eyes and hearts to the only solution that will save our women, children, and families in Gaza and all over the world from the oppression ignored largely by the world powers: the Islamic system. While there have been those who have been elected to be seated in parliament with the intent to raise their voice against the ruthless crimes committed by the Zionist entity for the past 8 months, we must remember that it is the system which they are sat in that inherently will never allow them to be successful. The UK unashamedly supports the genocide of Palestinians because it is in its foundation to operate on what interests it economically and politically first and foremost. Such a system built on placing value in capital gain through arms trades rather will not implement measures to stop the murderous Zionist entity which uses those very arms to behead innocent civilian children. A system with a rich history consistent in exploitation, torture, and abuse of people foreign to them will never take action against the Zionist entity which is looking up to their example of genocide and coloniolism. While the intent of those newly elected members of the parliament who are attempting to advocate for the people of Palestine is good, their hands are shackled by a system that is in fact haram and a web of deceit, corruption and compromise for the Muslims.
The Islamic system is not one based on democracy, which is a front used by those in power to control political outcomes in their favor, but rather the Quran and Sunnah, a creed sent down by our Rabb and Creator, Allah (swt). Our Creator has sent down Islam to us to not also guide us on cultivating good character, raising righteous families, and making good habits, but to also organize our affairs. The One who knows us best, inside and out, has commanded us to adhere to His (swt) laws alongside the Sunnah of the Rasul (saw) systemically as a government, and now is the perfect time to remind our Ummah of our obligation to re-establish such a state. Rather than pump life into a kufr system built on greed and oppression through campaigns and votes, we remind our brothers and sisters to return to the creed which we live by for guidance. We must work towards the re-establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah to truly free our Ummah from the continuous torture, bloodshed, and slaughter we are facing in Gaza. A Muslim, whose life is based on pure submission to Allah (swt) and His laws, can not expect any benefit to come from a vote submitted to a Kufr system. We must remind ourselves to look towards the complete and total reestablishment of Allah’s (swt) laws on Earth as a state, whose army’s footsteps will carve the path to the rescue of our suffering brothers and sisters and whose cries of la ilaha illallah will amplify our Ummah’s victory. Rather than perpetuating a cycle of disillusionment within a system that has consistently failed to uphold justice and human values, this period leading up to the elections presents an opportune moment to invite people to an alternative way of life – one that aligns with Islamic teachings and prioritizes spiritual and moral principles over temporary political gains.
