Pearls of Wisdom by Ibn Taymiyyah: "Lofty ranks cannot be reached except with trials."

IBN T A Y M I Y Y A H, may Allah (swt) have mercy upon him, was born in Harran, an old city within the Arabian Peninsula between Syria and Iraq, on the tenth or the twelfth of the month Rabi al-Awwal the year 661H. He and his family were later forced to flee to Damascus due to the occupation by the Tartars. He came from a family of scholars. At an early age he amazed his teachers at the strength of his memory, keen intelligence and depth of understanding. Ibn Taymiyyah was one of the greatest scholars in which his knowledge still lives on till this day. The Ummah Voice Podcast presents our audience a segment of his quotes during the holy month of Ramadan.

One famous quote of Ibn Taymiyyah is: "Lofty ranks cannot be reached except with trials."

Trials are part of life. Each individual will have his own trial based on what he can handle. It is the way one deals with trials either with patience and faith or anger and bitterness. Trials challenges patience, resilience, and discipline, which allows growth and elevation. It breaks one’s comfort zone and the mentality of pity. It breaks the shackles of victim to courage.

Trials elevate ranks before Allah (swt) and tests faith if it is genuine and truly believe in Allah (swt). Trials can be a cleansing of sins and ranks are raised in the Hereafter. Prophets endured trials and the Sahibeen (ra) who were promised Jannah went through trials. Have faith in Allah (swt) in times of hardship and know that HE (swt) is with you elevating your ranks in the Hereafter. This life is temporary but the Hereafter is ever-lasting. May Allah (swt) grant us patience, endurance, and steadfastness with our trials and may HE (swt) elevate our ranks in this Life and Hereafter.
