Obituary of a Da’wah Carrier
Ustadh Yusuf Dhiab Al-Shalabi (Abu Diya')

[مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَى نَحْبَهُ

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلاً]

“Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration” [Al-Ahzab: 23]

 With full belief in Allah’s divine decree and seeking reward from Him, the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Jordan mourns the loss of one of its Da’wah carriers: Ustadh Yusuf Dhiab Al-Shalabi (Abu Diya'), who passed away to the mercy of Allah Almighty on Thursday, the 1st of Muharram 1447 AH, corresponding to 26 June 2025 CE, at the age of 89, after a long illness which he bore patiently and in hope of Allah’s reward.

Abu Diya’ spent the years of his life striving, proclaiming the truth, and actively engaging in every occasion that required courage in carrying the dawah, using his eloquent classical Arabic, in which he excelled and taught. He diligently followed the affairs of the Islamic Ummah, fearing no reproach in the cause of Allah.

His determination never wavered despite being pursued, imprisoned, and harassed, nor did his illness deter him until the very last years of his life. May Allah shower our departed brother with His Vast Mercy, grant him the highest place in Paradise, magnify the reward of his family and loved ones, and grant them patience and solace. We say only that which pleases Allah Almighty: To Allah belongs what He takes and to Him belongs what He gives, and everything is with Him in due measure.

[إِنَّا للهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ]

“Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” [Al-Baqarah: 156]
