 Press Release
The Crimes and Rampages of the Jewish Entity and Its Settler Hordes Are Targeting Education in the West Bank and the Quds
When Will the Ummah Act to Put an End to This Misery?!
(Translated)

The United Nations documented 224 education-related incidents in the West Bank during the first half of 2026. These incidents affected 152 schools, more than 20,000 students, and 859 education staff. Among these incidents were 122 cases involving restrictions on access to schools, in addition to 47 incidents of settler violence.

The education sector in the West Bank and Jerusalem—with its facilities, teachers, students, and curricula—has not been spared the rampages of the Jewish entity and its settlers. Schools there are no longer safe places entitled to protection, as supposedly stipulated in human rights and children’s rights charters. Violations and assaults have extended inside school grounds and facilities, targeting both students and teachers.

For example, in Al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah, occupation forces fired tear gas and stun grenades toward the boys’ school in Al-Mughayyir while students were present, causing several of them to suffer from suffocation. In Huwwara, south of Nablus, Huwwara Boys’ Secondary School was subjected to attacks targeting its building. Whenever an army raid takes place in a village, city, or refugee camp, school students are subjected to abuse, whether the raid occurs while they are on their way to school or returning home.

Perhaps the widely circulated image of a boy no older than thirteen, hiding behind an electricity pole from a military vehicle in the town of Al-Zawiya, in the Salfit District, captures the extent of this suffering. The boy had been surprised by the vehicle while returning from school. That electricity pole did not protect him from the brutality of the occupation soldiers, who found him and beat him.

In areas subjected to settler attacks, students, their schools, and their teachers are also harmed. Schools are targeted, their contents destroyed, and racist slogans scrawled on their walls. Attacks also extend to the roads leading to them, as happened in Huwwara, where students of Huwwara Boys’ Secondary School were attacked while making their way to school.

Since the Jewish entity launched its large-scale operation in the northern West Bank in January 2025, educational activities have been disrupted in approximately 100 schools. In the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams refugee camps, ten UNRWA schools were closed, affecting more than 4,000 children. Meanwhile, dozens of schools across the West Bank and Jerusalem face the threat of demolition or stop-work orders, particularly in areas classified as “Area C.”

Added to this are the dangers students and teachers face when trying to reach their schools and universities. Checkpoints and closures force them to take longer routes and increase both travel time and the risks involved in reaching their destinations.

For example, in the village of Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta, 51 students were prevented from reaching their school for several days after their usual route was closed. Other students were exposed to tear gas while attempting to reach school, amid fears that they would have to use alternative routes that were even more dangerous.

In the northern Jordan Valley, the closure of the Tayasir and Ein Shibli checkpoints last September prevented 104 male and female teachers from reaching their schools. This disrupted education at six government schools and a kindergarten serving approximately 1,100 students. In the Quds (Jerusalem), students were prevented from crossing the Al-Shayah checkpoint to reach their schools in East Sawahra.

Against this tragic backdrop, teachers carry out their duties under difficult conditions, compounded by the salary crisis and restrictions imposed by the Palestinian Authority. According to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, more than 800 male and female teachers have been martyred, more than 3,300 others have been injured, and occupation forces have arrested more than 170 teachers since 7 October 2023.

The occupation authorities have also imposed a series of measures and restrictions that disrupt education in the Quds at the beginning of the school year. These include preventing a number of teachers from the West Bank from reaching their schools because their entry permits have not been renewed; interfering with the curricula, extending even to the content of the textbooks themselves; and seeking to impose the Jewish entity’s curriculum.

Furthermore, leaders of the entity, the European Union, and America repeatedly call for changes to the school curricula in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza, linking such changes to the provision of funding and aid. Their aim is to produce generations that normalize relations with the usurping entity, strip them of the spirit of jihad, and instill Western ideas and concepts in them. We have increasingly witnessed this through repeated changes to the curricula.

In the face of this tragic reality and these horrific crimes, all the lies and slogans about children’s rights—especially their right to education and to a safe environment—are exposed for what they are. Those who claim to champion these slogans are exposed as well. The Ummah of Islam is confronted with its duty to support the people of Palestine, lift the oppression inflicted upon them, and exact justice from their enemy, which is also the Ummah’s enemy: the usurpers of the Masra (place of ascension) of their Prophet (saw) and their first Qiblah.

When will we see the armies of the Muslims advancing toward the Blessed Land in great ranks, proclaiming Allah’s greatness and praising Him?!
