Proposal to Ban Hizb ut-Tahrir: Part of the Return of a Global Campaign against Islam and Muslims

The War on Terror was launched twenty-five years ago for the express purpose of preventing the reemergence of the Khilafah (Caliphate). Its aim was to reassert direct control over the Middle East to preserve the U.S.’s post WWII colonial architecture given the increasing fragility of its servile rulers. The hope was to subdue an increasing restlessness in the region by forcibly instilling democratic governance as an alternative to the tyranny historically relied upon.

That dream quickly turned into a nightmare. But the urgency in preventing the reemergence of the Khilafah never subdued, for the U.S.'s continued exploitation of the world is predicated simply on the absence of a civilisational alternative.

A central plank of the U.S.’s reach in the Middle East is the existence of the occupational entity that serves as a forward base for the U.S. in the region. Its survival is fundamental to U.S. policy in the region, but not indispensable. At this point, the U.S. regards the benefits of preserving the entity outweighs the harm of its absence. That is why the U.S. continues to serve as the lifeline of the entity, even if Zionists recognise, with futility, the existential risk associated with U.S. dependence.

To prolong its existence, the occupational entity has sought to extend its usefulness by positioning itself as a bulwark of resistance against radical Islam and the threat it ostensibly poses to the West. The alarm bells against radical Islam are ringing loudly in Washington again, by no less than President Trump himself, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

Whilst these calls serve to offer cover to the occupying entity by justifying its continued existence after the Zionist project lost all legitimacy, the calls against radical Islam - which is nothing but a call against Islam itself - are amplified to justify the U.S.’s continued intransigence around the world generally, and in the Middle East specifically.

The genocide in Gaza has changed the world forever. The mask behind American exceptionalism has been removed and the tyranny of the post WWII order and its complicity in facilitating crimes like the Gaza genocide has been well and truly exposed. The role of capitalists in fomenting violence and cynically profiting from it is now universally understood.

Gaza has flipped the script. It is not just Zionism that has lost legitimacy, it is the entire post WWII world order too. In both the East and the West, the people now stand on one side and Capitalists on the other side.

Islam is the only alternative to the chaos we all see. Hizb ut Tahrir is the pioneer in championing Islam’s civilisational alternative for the Muslim world, and it is for this reason, before anything else, that the threat of a ban now hangs over our heads.
