The Empire Strikes Gaza - Sami Hamdi and the Death of Dissent

After the Zionist entity informed the United States of its decision to resume its criminal operations in Gaza, more than 109 residents of the Blessed Land of Palestine - including 46 children - were martyred, and many others wounded since Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, in airstrikes carried out across the Gaza Strip. The bombings targeted civilian homes and a school sheltering displaced people in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza.

Following the Zionist entity’s latest wave of attacks, US Vice President J.D. Vance stated on Tuesday, “Trump achieved historic peace in the Middle East, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be small skirmishes here and there.” Such statements reveal the U.S. administration’s utter contempt for Muslim blood, viewing the murder of 46 innocent children as something trivial - mere “small skirmishes” - while treating the delay in recovering captives’ bodies as an unforgivable crime justifying further massacres. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the total number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip has now risen to 68,643, the majority of them women and children, since the beginning of the occupation’s aggression on October 7, 2023.

The U.S. administration’s double standards and blatant hypocrisy have become unbearable. Deceit, broken promises, and opportunism have become the hallmarks of its political strategy. While America remains the primary supporter and indeed the real orchestrator of the massacres in Gaza over the past two years, it shamelessly presented itself at the Sharm el-Sheikh “Peace” Conference as a “neutral mediator,” a “peace maker,” and a “guarantor of peace”!

It was expected - indeed, almost certain - that America and its protégé and forward military base, the Zionist entity, had been luring the resistance through the signing of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement for the handover of captives and the remains of the dead, only to renege on the agreement and resume their killing of innocents. This comes as no surprise from the American policymakers, who have never honored a covenant or agreement with any international party - let alone when acting as guarantors for an entity whose moral decay is even worse than that of its American master.

As Allah Almighty said:

[أَوَكُلَّمَا عَاهَدُوا عَهْدًا نَبَذَهُ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ]

“Is it not the case that every time they make a covenant, a party among them throws it aside? In fact, most of them do not believe.” [TMQ Al-Baqarah: 100].

The green light granted by the U.S. administration to the Zionist entity to commit further massacres in the Blessed Land also constitutes an indictment of the leaders and presidents who attended and witnessed the Sharm el-Sheikh Agreement - foremost among them the leaders of the Muslim world, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, and others.

Their silence in the face of these massacres, just as with those before them, is nothing but complicity and renewed betrayal. Their presence at the Sharm el-Sheikh conference was that of false witnesses to an agreement guaranteed neither by their master Trump nor by the puppets themselves.

The U.S. administration, under the rule of “King” Trump, seeks to reaffirm its strategy of global dominance, portraying the “King” as the one who dictates to Palestine and its people, and to all who sympathize with the innocent there, a policy of repression through killing or persecution. One manifestation of this was the arrest and detention of activist and journalist Sami Hamdi during his speaking tour in America after he described the occupation’s crimes in Gaza as genocide.

Hamdi’s arrest is not an isolated incident but a chilling reflection of a broader erosion of values and descent towards authoritarianism. The intimidation, silencing and criminalization of journalists, activists, academics and Muslim groups critical of American foreign policy exposes the hypocrisy of “rule of law” and “land of the free”.

With this, the American administration has not only expanded its blood stained record of leading and supporting massacres in Gaza but has also betrayed the very principle upon which it claims to stand - “freedom of speech”, once considered sacred in America. Will the reasonable minds among American thinkers, intellectuals, and activists awaken before it is too late to rescue their country from leaders who have antagonized the entire world and trampled every human and moral value under its imperial boot?!
