London UK, 26th June 2009 - In a speech to the French parliament last Monday, President Nicolas Sarkozy made clear his views towards the burqa describing it an unacceptable symbol of women's enslavement. He said "The burqa is not a religious sign; it is a sign of the subjugation, of the submission of women. I want to say solemnly that it will not be welcome on our territory."
It is laughable that Mr. Sarkozy talks of enslavement of women while he is married to Carla Bruni, a former nude model - a profession that many women consider as the embodiment of female enslavement to men.
While attacking the burqa, he conveniently ignores the subjugation of women in secular liberal France where:
* 2 million women suffer domestic violence
* 400 are murdered each year by their spouse
* approximately 38,000 are raped each year
Sarkozy continued his onslaught on the burqa, stating that women who adopt the dress are "prisoners behind a grille, cut off from social life, deprived of their identity."
The irony is that many Muslim women would say the current headscarf ban in France has created exactly this situation for them.
He concluded his tirade saying "All views must be expressed ... I tell you, we must not be ashamed of our values, we must not be afraid of defending them."
Regarding these comments, Sultanah Parvin, women's deputy media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain said, "Sarkozy should be ashamed of secular liberal values that proudly display open intolerance, relegating to second class citizens those who adopt religious beliefs that are not in line with its fundamentalist view on life. He should be ashamed of defending values that allow men to exploit the bodies of women for profit and a 'moulin rouge' society. It is rank hypocrisy to preach about freedom while talking of banning Muslim women from dressing according to their religious convictions. There is in fact much for Sarkosy and those who agree with him to be ashamed of."
"This current outburst clearly shows that while public outrage in the UK continues at racist groups such as the BNP gaining seats in the European elections, liberal fascism has already found a loving home within the corridors of power in France."
"Muslim women do not need lessons in women's rights from a renowned womanizer and philandering adulterer whose second claim to fame is being married to a nude model."
"Mr. Sarkozy and the French establishment's desperation at the droves of Muslim and non-Muslim women rejecting secular liberalism in France and across the world and adopting Islam as their spiritual, social and political path in life is overtly clear. The intellectually flawed capitalist secular liberal creed has made disrespect for women in society a norm."
"In contrast, Islamic laws and values offer a society with dignity for the woman, strong family units, and ensures healthy cooperation of men and women in public life while simultaneously guarding the honour of both."

As mentioned by Rizmie Ziard, indeed France played a major role in undermining the Ottoman State, via destabilising provinces in Egypt and As-Sham. Britain played the worst role, whilst shifting a series of alliances with Russia, France, and the Ottoman state (and working to destroy the Ottoman State) and seize the prized territories before Russia or France could claim. Yet lest we forget, the Arabs (and followers of the Wahhabi State and Al-Saud Clan) undermined the Ottomans for decades. The nationalist Turks and other national/tribal identities, (although being Muslim), undermined and shamefully supported the foreign invaders in dismantling the Ottoman State. Debt was the preferred instrument to attack the Ottomans. Missionary invasions accompanied this challenge. Muslim fought Muslim, as Egyptian armies under the French protectorate of Egypt fought Muslims in Southern Arabia. Muslims under the Wahhabi State (funded by Britain) fought Muslims of As-Sham. Finally who can forget the treachery of the Sheriff of Mecca (selling out to the worst of all belligerents: Britain?) Muslims sold their Khilafah away, and the colonialist states were only too happy to oblige in partitioning it away. |

If people accept the dress-code of an Airline or a fast food chain, then what about those people who FREELY submit their will to the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth? Surely His (swt) dress-code must also be adhered to, as failure to comply would inevitably entail serious consequences that are everlasting in the hear-after, without respite. Despite the wall-to-wall coverage of secular liberal values in western (decaying) societies, that fact that so many Muslim women have adopted the Islamic dress-code in an increasingly anti-Islam climate is an indication that they have chosen wisely. It is just laughable, probably because his wife has flashed herself before everyman and women he wants to justify what she did was right by trying to get the muslim women to remove the burqa. I just wonder when these people go on and on about the burqa and how it should be removed dont they have some self pride. In the past these women who go semi naked were called prostitutes now models, you still see some of them in Bradford standing in the cold weather waiting for customers. Those days the europeans were gentlemens and they had dignity and married women of high status. Now it is laughable, no dignity, no self respect and want women whom there fathers called prostitute Mr Nicolas Sarkozy just because your wife runs around naked muslim women dont want to do the same. They dont have low self esteem. Do you know that this would have been a different story if the Khilapah excisted. During the Ottaman Khilapah only a letter from the Khaliph made the french tremble and stopped a play which was to come to theaters slandering Aisha (PBUH). So work towards the Khilapah and issues like this wouldnt even make it to the papers. Remember France played a major role in the destruction of the Khilapah |

Now the question may ask that is this call freedom? Answer is yes! it is. This is freedom is all about where hizab is all ready ban & the holly Quraan, mosques will be ban soon! Now what to do? Sarkozy have to do it as its the only option he had. Its called the "method". As a head of secular liberal France he must protect the secular values, implement it & propagate it. So by banning Hizab, actually he is protecting secularism. Same thing happen in turkey as well. But question is where is our "method"? How can we protect, propagate & implement Islam? The very simple solution of Sarkozy is a military solution. Like weather he will cancel his decision or will face the consequences like economic embargo or military occupation. But who will do it? there is no body to do it. thats why we need a khalif. Inshallah we will have him soon & France will face the consequences. Thank you. |

The issue of women exposing their awra is a thing the western and their allies will never be able to withstand due to the fact the muslim women are protected elements by the will of Allah.Servitude and subjugation is to Allah not Srakovsy and his allies. And this causes a great envy among them because their women does not have such a honoured prestige. They wish to put out the Noor of Allah but it will keep glaring and dominating within thier own backyard. |

Definitely agree with bro Abdul Kareem. Muslim women and many Western women have woken up to the fact that the 'freedom' propagated forcing women to reveal their awrah is a lie. Women no longer want to be slaves to men. Women want to be obedient servants tof the Creator; to earn a high rank in the eyes of our Lord and we will wear what God tells us we should wear. What is wrong for a woman to wear something that her Creator wishes her to wear??? |

This principle, of men not being allowed to tell women what or what not to wear, and how to live their lives not only applies to politicians (seeking domestic support) in Europe and America. This principle also applies to reactionary movements or ‘ultraconservative’ male dominated societies in the Muslim World. There are plenty of examples of ‘traditional’ and ‘cultural’ attachments that are forced or imposed on women because the ‘Clergy’ or certain councils deem that a society should conform to their view. Hence, observers outside mainly Muslim populated countries make assumptions of treatment of women and girls in Islam, by what is depicted in very rigid societies like Saudi Arabia or societies in turmoil such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. An unravelling domestic scene produces bitterly opposing camps of ‘liberals’ and ‘traditionalist’ supporters. Nonetheless the friction and disagreement can be played upon by politicians and think tanks seeking to influence policies to another end. On the other hand in Mesopotamia (Iraq), Persia, and South East Asia, (prior to invasions or destabilisation) there were continuous struggles for domestic rights (such as for widely available education, healthcare, women/girls, and protection for workers). To a certain degree these struggles (some socialist or nationalist), mirrored the efforts undertaken in Latin America, North America (Civil Rights), and parts of Asia in attempts to modernise and contend with social changes. Arguable just was World War One prompted social change in Europe, upheavals and revolutions prompted social change elsewhere. Whilst President Nicolas Sarkozy has his ulterior motives (politically or ideologically) for making these timely statements; there remain many rules imposed upon more vulnerable members of society in Muslim countries (from very conservative but powerful male dominated leadership). Men need to stop telling women what they should and should not wear. Only the Creator of men and women Allah (swt) should tell women what they should wear. What the kuffar French cannot stand is not the actual dress but the fact that these honourable Muslim women are submitting themselves to Allah and not Sarkozy and his man-made values. |
