Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh holds national conference on Khilafah – the Correct Leadership and Government System

Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh organized a national conference today on Khilafah – the Correct Leadership and Government System at the Engineer’s Institution, Dhaka. Chief Coordinator and Official Spokesman Mohiuddin Ahmed, Deputy Spokesman Kazi Murshedul Haque and senior member Ahmed Jamal Iqbal delivered the speeches. The programme was conducted by Mustafa Minhaz and Dr Syed Golam Mawla, Sheikh Tawfique and Maulana Mamunur Rashid were present on the panel.

The first speech delivered by Ahmed Jamal Iqbal was on the topic ‘Election 2008: US-India-British Design for Bangladesh.’ In his speech he said 1/11 and the emergency government has shown very clearly that imperialists control the ruling elite and the whole ruling system in Bangladesh. The elections won’t solve this fundamental problem. He said the ruling elite don’t represent the people. At every opportunity they implement policies that go against the interest of people and serve the imperialist disbelieving polytheist states – USA, India and Britain. The imperialists’ aim is to shape and control the ruling system in Bangladesh in order to: achieve their interests in the region; implement economic policies that will help them loot the country’s resources; use the military to serve their interests; establish colonial laws based on secularism; and spread their corrupt culture through the media.

The second speaker Kazi Murshedul Haque delivered his speech on Khilafah: the Way to Challenge Imperialist Hegemony.’ He spelled out some policies the Khilafah will adopt to challenge the imperialists:

• Pursuing a strong and visionary foreign policy with the aim of making Islam dominant and abandoning the current foolish policy of ‘friendship to all and malice to none.’
• Increasing the manpower of the military and equipping them with advanced weapons
• Acquiring advanced military technology in order to maintain regional balance of power
• Creating awareness of the people about the imperialist threat and introducing compulsory military service.
• Working for political unification in the Muslim world, to pull the benefits of people, resources and geography.

The third and final speaker Mohiuddin Ahmed delivered his speech on ‘Nature and Shape of Khilafah.’ In his speech he said under the current government system politicians and the ruling elite are sovereign and tyrannical. They don’t take the responsibility of the people and they are not accountable to anyone. He discussed in detail how the Khilafah government looks after people’s affairs; the primary steps Khilafah will take immediately upon its establishment to meet the people’s basic needs; and policies of the Khilafah to build self-reliant economy by utilizing energy resources and undertaking a program of rapid industrialization. He ended by saying establishing the Khilafah system is a vital shari’ah obligation on the Muslims. Hizb ut-Tahrir is working globally for the re-establishment of the Khilafah and party’s global leadership has more than 50 years of political experience and struggle. He urged the people to join the party in the work for the Khilafah.

About 2500-3000 people attended the conference from various cities in the country. After the first speech a video documentary was shown titled ‘Khilafah: the Need for Change.’ There was also a very interactive question and answer session where the speakers answered people’s questions about the political situation in Bangladesh, the problems facing the Muslim Ummah globally and the solutions of the Khilafah system.
